Foods to Avoid if You Are Allergic to Grass Pollen

If you have a grass allergy or know someone that does there may be some foods that are actually making your allergies worse.
I know it may sound strange, but some fruits and vegetables that have the same or similar proteins can make your allergies worse. For example it can leave the inside of your mouth feeling itchy, possibly with bumps or even swelling.  This is known as a cross reaction. Of course not everyone will experience a reaction to all of these foods, it may be just one or two or maybe none at all.
The good news is that the allergic effects of this cross reaction can usually be eliminated simply by cooking, baking or roasting the problematic food.
So for example if you experience a reaction when eating raw Pears try cooking or baking them.
I do this all the time with apples. You can make applesauce (or buy it from the store), bake them or add them to any baking.
The most common food that cross react with grass pollen include:
Oranges
Melons
Cherrries
Figs
Kiwis
Pears
Peaches
Watermelon
Tomatoes
Peas
Celery
Swiss Chard
Peanuts
Wheat
