Easy Do It Yourself Ideas
I love design and fashion, but I'm always on a tight budget.
So it's a great thing that I'm also a pretty creative person who actually likes a good do it yourself project.
So on that theme I thought I would pass on a couple of easy do it yourself projects that I've done.
The first project are two pillow covers for the bed.
I really liked this type of black and white pattern and texture but just couldn't find affordable pillow covers. So, when I spotted these small throw rugs for less than ten dollars a piece I thought, I can make that work somehow.
And as it turned out, it was an even simpler project than I thought. All I did was sew a wide elastic ( slightly shorter than the pillow I was using) to the inside edges of the rug. Then tucked the pillow inside and that's it! Once you flip the pillow over to the rug side it completely covers the pillow and you would never know there wasn't a back to it. I guess I could have sewn a regular pillow case but I really didn't have any extra material on hand that would have worked. And since these rugs are also washable they are easy to keep clean. Just pull them off and throw them in the washing machine and if I ever get tired of using them as pillow covers they can easily go back to being rugs.
My second do it yourself project was just as easy and I used items I already had in the house.
I used a small wood doweling, a piece of matching yarn and some pompom string cut into different lengths to make this wall hanging. And the best part of all was that it didn't cost me a thing.
For some reason I'm just not the biggest fan of using the regular Kleenex box's so I tend to use things like this fabric Ikea organizer instead, especially in bedrooms and bathrooms. To me it doesn't seem to stand out as much and it's just as convenient to access.
