Aloe Vera Powder for Hair And Skin

I've been using aloe vera juice in my homemade shampoo for years instead of lotions or gels.  Recently I've been able to find and purchase aloe vera powder.  Since I have such sensitive skin finding aloe only products (short of just buying an aloe plant) was virtually impossible.  So I was thrilled when I found this option available at a reasonable price. Finally no need to worry about any additional ingredients that could be irritating.

So this wonderful little plant can have a lot of  benefits when used on the skin. Aloe vera of course has been around a long long time. In fact it's been used for thousands of years in all sorts of treatments, Evidence of its use has even been discovered in ancient Egyptian text. (And, yes I would love to see just how and why they used it.)

That gel like stuff inside the leaves contains all kinds of wonderful minerals, vitamins, antioxidants and amino acids.  It's well known for its wound healing abilities and its anti-inflammatory, anti viral, antibacterial and antiseptic properties.  It adds moisture to the skin and hair and can provide relief from itchy skin and issues like eczema and irritated or dry scalp. The proteolytic enzymes in aloe vera help to heal damaged cells and when used in hair care can improve hair follicle health, promote regrowth and may even boost hair growth or regrowth.

According to an article "Aloe Vera Powder A Powerful Ingredients To Add To Cosmetic Formulations " *from the website aromaticingredients.com  they explain just how the powder is obtainedThe gel is rinsed to "remove remnants of the juice, dehydrates and ground into a fine powder."  This creates a very concentrated powder so only a small amount is actually needed.

So if you're like me this is an easy and safe way to add this ingredient with all its benefits to your hair and skin care. People are finding all kinds of uses for it too. Adding it to their hair conditioner, making hair rinses or just simply using it in a hair or face mask.
