Are You Sleep Deprived Because Of Allergies?

There are some nights that sleep seems completely out of reach when your allergies leave you itchy, sneezing, stuffed up, or simply miserable from head to toe.  So if you find you're frustrated and frankly exhausted from lack of sleep I have a few suggestions that might just help.  With any luck you might even get that much sought after and ever so elusive sleep!
First off, maintaining a regular sleep schedule.  I know, I know, you've probably heard it a million times by now but honestly it really helps.  But also don't forget that keeping your room dark and cool can make a big difference too. When you get overheated while you sleep it can often cause any itching to become worse.
Regularly wash your bedding and make sure the room is clean, especially if your allergic to dust or you have pets.  Mattress & pillow protectors will also help protect against off gassing from the mattress and any potential dust mites.
Try using unscented products and gentle laundry detergents and dryer balls instead of dryer sheets to avoid the risks of any irritation.
Air purifiers can also give you some much sought after relief and if your a light sleeper this or a fan can offer some noise cancellation of all those other things that can wake you up.
I always take vitamin C along with my allergy pills (antihistamines) at night to help ease symptoms while I sleep.
If you experience dry mouth from medications keep a glass of water by your bed or try a product especially made to help like Biotene Moisturizing Gel .
Wear loose soft clothing to sleep in, my favourite is modal, but natural cotton and silk are just as good too. If your skin is irritated, dry or itchy remember to apply a gentle lotion before you head to bed.
If your experiencing a lot of sinus related symptoms you might find elevating your head with an extra pillow or two can help.
Avoid any stimulants before bed, things like caffeine, bright lights, or spending time on your devices. Yes this is a tough one for some of us but I think it's well worth the sacrifice for a better nights sleep.
