Fragrance Free Hair Colour? Yes Please.

Searching for Allergy Friendly Styling Products

So what do you do if everything you try using to style your hair ends up with a rash, irritated skin or worse?

First off I suggest trying to stay away from the usual suspects, fragrance, colours and aerosol sprays.
If you know what you're sensitive or allergic to, you will need to start reading ingredient labels carefully.

Some suggested products that can be found in Canada are listed at
The Guide to Less Toxic Products

You can find some familiar names including the below listed on this site.

Burts Bees
Giovanni
Alba Botanica
Aubrey Organics
Curelle
Jason
Kiss My Face

I've used Curelle styling gel as well as an Aloe Vera Gel for my curly hair for years. I tend to stay away from sprays and use gels and creams to better control where the product goes and limit direct contact with skin.

These are some easy do it yourself recipes and products that I have used over the years:

Aloe Vera Gel- use as a hair gel, any natural
brand (check the label)

Flax seed gel - Boil 4 Tbsp flax seeds in 2/3 cup
of water for about 10 minutes. Strain and store in a container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.  Apply to hair sparingly.

Argan and Apricot oils - used to calm frizz and add
moisture.  Apply a couple drops to hands, and gently
rub together.  Apply to top of hair and ends to help
                                     eliminate frizz.
