Daily Detox

Our bodies are constantly working to eliminate toxins, whether it comes from our environment, products we use or the foods we eat.
There seems to be a bit of a divide between doing a detox (short or long) and just eating well. But if you are like me and have any dietary or digestive issues doing an actual detox can be difficult and can even make digestive issues worse. Personally I believe that eating well (with the odd splurge, now and then of course) is the best way to support our bodies ALL the time.
To me eating well means eating real foods like fruits and vegetables, foods that haven't been processed or over processed. They provide our bodies with the vitamin's, minerals and nutrients that it needs to filter toxins effectively.
Avoiding things like chemicals, preservatives, artificial and natural colours, sweeteners as well as a high intake of processed sugars, fried and high fat foods. Begin the habit of reading the labels of the foods and products that you are eating and using.  It's not just what we eat, but also the products we use on our skin and hair, the cleaners we use in our homes and the environment in which he we live.
By reducing the chemicals in our homes we can reduce our exposure so that our bodies don't have to work so hard to get rid of them.

There are actually some supper easy and simple things we can do everyday to help our bodies get rid of toxins.

  • Drink plenty of water.  (Yes I know, you've heard it a million times, but that's because it actually works!)
  • Get plenty of fiber to help your body flush out all those unwanted toxins.
  • Get moving, exercise helps by increasing blood circulation and helps your lymphatic system remove toxins.
  • Reduce the sugar in your diet.

Tip:  If your not the biggest fan of plain water try adding fruit to your water instead of drinking high sugar or sweetener laden drinks.
