Discovering the Origin of Your Skin Reaction

Have a mysterious rash or skin irritation and you have no idea how you got it?
It can be really hard to figure out the mystery sometimes but it can be done.
Here are few things to look for that you might not have thought of.

  • Metal - A skin irritation around a piece of jewelry, your cell phone, tablet, or even mettle                        buttons on your clothing.
  • Laundry detergent/ Dryer sheets - Try less irritating products without fragrance or added                        colours.
  • Cleaning products - I know quite a few people who have allergies to cleaning products.                          Try natural products, there are more and more options available.
  • Wool - Some people find wool itchy but did you know that if you're sensitive to Lanolin (also                produced by sheep) you might also be sensitive to wool.
  • Dust/Mold - Be extra careful with items such as furniture, books, and stuffed animals from                     Garage sales, Second hand stores.  Potting soil and bark mulch contains mold.
  • Latex -  Can be found in things like balloons, gloves, pillows, bandages, etc.                                            There are now many alternatives available.
  • Lotions -  Cosmetics, nail care products, hair care products, ointments.
  • Environmental pollution.

Check out your local stores for labels that say things like "sensitive" or "fragrance free".
The natural products sections now offer more of a selection than they used to and that is a great opportunity to try alternatives that may help you and your family.
