Allergies And Halloween

If you have food allergies Halloween can definitely be a challenge.

I recently came across a fantastic article at care.com, Halloween, Kids and Food Allergies, How your child can have a fun Halloween without eating candy.  This article has helpful tips on how to enjoy Halloween with your kids and still be safe.
It really doesn't have to be all about the candy.  Why not head over to the dollar store and pick up some none food items instead?  Get together with friends, enjoy some games or even a movie. Check out what's happening in your community, there might be an event or two you could go too.

There are two very important things to remember about                           prepackaged foods.
1.  ALWAYS read food labels even if you are familiar with
     the brand. Ingredients can change.
2.  If there are no ingredients listed on the label DO NOT
Eat It!   Its always best to be safe.

There is a also a project called the Teal Pumpkin Project, that was started in the US in 2014.  Food Allergy Canada supports this project in Canada.  Its purpose is to raise awareness about food allergies around and during Halloween while promoting inclusion for all our trick-or-treaters.
