Cold or Flu? What To Take When You Cant Take Anything

So what do you do if you're like me and have allergies to many of the ingredients found in cold and flu remedies and you actually become sick?

Were I live there are few options in the relief department, but there are a few options that might just help in prevention.

Immune boosting is one of the best options.

Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Probiotics, and a healthy diet are probably the first things that come to mind.

Other options include Echinacea, Zinc, Elderberry extract, Oregano oil, naturopathic and homeopathic remedies.

(Note: Many Homeopathic remedies do contain sugar.)

Just last year I discovered an Elderberry Extract that had no added sugar, dyes, or flavours in it.  I was desperate and was seeking some relief from a cold.  It definitely helped and shortened the length and severity of my symptoms.

During this same cold I had read about this mixture that included pinapple juice, that could help relieve a cough.  Unfortunately I couldn't have any of the other ingredients.  But I decided to give it a try anyway and just sipped a glass of pure pinapple juice in hopes it might help with my cough, and it did.
It's not just loaded with vitamin C but it also contains bromelain which has anti-inflammatory properties.

Hot ginger tea is also soothing for the throat, and soothing for the stomach.
Green tea & Matcha are very soothing and pack a fantastic antioxidant punch.

The best foods to eat when you're sick are things like:

Garlic                         Yogurt                       Skinless turkey breasts      Sweet potato
Oily fish                     Kefir                         Blueberries                       Sunflower seeds
Anise seeds                Tea                            Dark chocolate                  Oats
Fennel                       Mushrooms               Brazil nuts                        Milk
Citrus fruit                Leafy greens              Carrots

The worst foods are things like:  High fat, Sugar, and Spicy foods
