Did You Hear About EpiPen?
This past week Pfizer Canada issued a statement that the adult dosage (that would be the 0.3mg/0.3ml auto-injector) is experiencing a temporary supply shortage in Canada. (This does not include the EpiPenJr auto-injector.) So if you do use one you might want to check your expiatory dates.
You can check out Pfizer's statement at pfizer.ca and if you have any questions you can contact Pfizer Canada directly at 1-877-374-7361.
So if you're looking for more information about EpiPen or maybe you just want to refresh your memory. There are actually some great sources out there including free apps for your devices.
In 2016 EpiPen launched a new free app in Canada that's available for both Android and IPhone. There's also a similar app available in the US, also called MyEpiPlan. This app includes everything from how to use your EpiPen, documenting and sharing your allergens, alternative names for allergens, and managing expiration dates and reminders.
You can get the Canadian apps at:
Google Play, for Android: MyEpiPen-Canada play.google.com
At itunes, for IPone & iOS: MyEpiPen-Canada itunes.apple.com
Youtube has some helpful videos on how to use an EpiPen like this one youtube.com
(Just remember blue to the sky orange to the thigh.) EpiPen.ca offers a free 20 minute interactive guide to help you learn triggers, symptoms and of course when and how to use an EphiPen.
Just remember that it's always less scary when you are equipped with the right information. Not knowing and doubting yourself is much more stressful than learning what your options are. Especially when it doesn't take much time or effort.
So why not take a few minutes out of your day to learn and maybe help yourself or someone you know through a scary moment.
